8 Steps For Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing

I am following these steps from Feb 2011 & earning good money every month from affiliate marketing. You just have to work on the following 8 golden steps to start making money with affiliate marketing online. If you think, this 4-8 weeks time is very big and you want to know the secrets to start making money with affiliate marketing from day 1 then I am sorry! This post is not for you because there is no such scheme online to make quick bux from day 1 without doing proper research, giving effort & spending time. Believe me ! Making money with affiliate marketing is not very difficult but also not very easy. Easy in the sense, you cannot make money from day 1 and difficult in the sense, it will not take more than few weeks to make your first sale online, if you are doing everything right.

1. Find a Buyer Keyword.
2. Do keyword research.
3. Buy Hosting & Exact Match Domain name
4. Setup wordpress and optimize it for SEO.
5. Post Original Content
6. Submit your website to Webmaster tool
7. Start making backlinks.
8. Time to cash out.

So, these are the 8 basic steps to follow in 4 weeks and I am sure you will start seeing the results during this time period. 1. Finding a Buyer Keyword
Making money online with affiliate marketing is totally dependent to the right keyword you choose. A right keyword can make you thousands of dollars every month and a bad keyword can ruin your online business. Your first aim must be to do keyword research & Find right keyword. So, How to find that Right Keyword ?? In affiliate marketing, right keywords are generally referred to keywords which are related to sell or purchase. If the keyword which you are targeting is not related to buying then why your visitors will spend money to buy anything from your website? Think about it?? You should target those keywords which are related to buying so that the people which will come to your website, will be in mood to buy those products.

Now, you may ask How to find Buyer keywords? To get more idea about buying keywords, first of all you have to know what users are buying online and to know about this you may visit popular online shopping sites and can look on their products page. Most of the sites usually display their most popular products based on week or month and that’s the main area which you can target to find buyers keyword. Make a list about top 10-20 popular keywords and perform the step 2.

2. Do keyword research?
Once you have made a list of top 20 buyer keywords then the next step is to do keyword research for all those keyword to find whether those keywords are less competitive or highly competitive. Because we have to target low competitive keywords so that we can rank easily in search engines and start making money asap. We have to target those keywords which are having maximum 70,000 GMS because the keywords under 70K are easy to rank in Google. To find the global monthly searches & competition details, you can use Google adwords free tool. But I use Micro Niche Finder tool to do all my keyword research because MNF is having many advance features which Adwords free keyword tool don’t have. Once you have got the less competitive keywords from your keyword research now you have to perform step 3.

3. Buy Hosting & Domain Name
You have to buy exact match domain name with extension .com, .net or .org based on your targeted keyword and hosting to host your websites. I will not suggest free blogs because they cannot rank number 1 in less time. If you already have web hosting then you just have to buy domain names and install wordpress in your host. Once you have bought domain and hosting then move to step 4.

4. Install WordPress & optimize it for SEO
Install WordPress in your hosting server. If you are buying hosting from hostgator then they provide auto install feature for wordpress i.e. with few mouse clicks you can install wordpress within 5 mins. After Installing the wordpress you need to optimize it for SEO. Once you have optimized your wordpress blog then move to step 5.

5. Write Quality Content
Once everything is setup and you are ready to publish articles on your website then keep in mind “Quality content is KING, QUEEN and everything.” If you are not writing quality content on your niche blog then you can never rank higher in Google and if you are not ranking top 5 in Google, you are leaving decent amount of money.

So always write original content with at least 400 words length. You can write 5-10 quality posts related to your keyword and publish one post everyday for 5 day. Once you have posted 5-10 quality contents then move to step 6.

6. Submit your Website to Webmaster tool
You have to submit your websites in Google, Yahoo & Bing webmaster tool so that your website get indexed asap by these search engines. Why Yahoo & Bing? These search engines will send you more traffic once your blog got some domain age, so why to leave these free traffic in future for just few minutes of work today? Once you have submitted your website then move to step 7.

7. Start making backlinks
Once you have done above 6 steps then you have to start the process of creating high PR backlinks instead of just creating backlinks. I will suggest you not to create any PR 0 Backlinks. There is no harm but to get more benefits High PR backlinks are really required. I use Backlink Profit Monster to search high PR backlinks based on my niche website. Don’t generate lots of backlinks in one day instead do it regularly for more positive results. You can either create backlinks on daily or weekly basis but you have to stick on one way.

Once you have done everything right then within 4-8 weeks you will start earning with affiliate programs. You can follow this same process to create a website for adsense and then you can make money from 1 week itself if you have started a good targeted keyword in any niche.

I am taking FINANCE keyword as an example and I will show you how to find niche related to Finance. First of all, open Google.com and do a search with keyword FINANCE. I have done it for you and below is the screenshot of the result for keyword FINANCE.

Now Click on Show Search Tools Option from left as shown in the above screenshot. Once you have clicked on this option, it will open a dropdown of related tools. Checkout the Wonder wheel option from the list and then click on it. Once you have clicked on wonder wheel option, you will see a structure in the middle of the page, well known as, wonder wheel that will look similar to the following screenshot.

In the above screenshot, finance is pointing towards different keywords like finance jobs, finance director, car finance, finance major etc.  All those 8 keywords are different type of niches related to word FINANCE. Now, again you can go with any keyword and click on it to find relevant niche related to that keyword.

I am taking CAR FINANCE as a example. So, Click on Car Finance keyword and it will again open a wonder wheel with keywords related to car finance as shown in the following screenshot.

Look closely at the result. Again Google wonder wheel have suggested more keywords related to keyword Car Finance like Volvo Car Finance, Used Car finance, Car Loan etc. Now these keywords, also can be considered as different niches. You can again drill down to each keywords to find another set of keywords.

So this wonder wheel can be really useful if you want to start a targeted niche website that doesn’t look like a niche site. For example, you can start a niche website related to finance and then you can consider all these keywords as a related keywords and you can target these keywords on your website to get extra exposure and traffic OR you can target car finance as a keyword and then those sub keywords as a related keyword.

I hope you understood the process that means you have to drill down till the bottom to find best niche keyword suitable for you.

Note: Google wonder wheel is not useful in finding competition of any niche keyword. It will only tell you about generic niche market which you can be considered as a niche. To find competition of any keywords, you have to use paid tool because I don’t think you can find this using any free tool.

Update: If you are not able to see Google wonder wheel option in your google search engine then move to Google.Com/ncr and then repeat the process.

Ok. So, Let’s start. Also, tell me “Do you want to get niche keywords related to word GUITAR“? Because I am taking GUITAR as an example for this post and will show you how you can find related search keywords for your Guitar Niche website.

First of all, open Google.Com and write GUITAR and do a search. Once you have searched about Guitar word then the search results will look like the following screenshot.

Now Checkout the left side menu and you will get an option called Related searches. Click on that link and it will show you the related searches based on word GUITAR. Check out the following screenshot.

Now, each related search suggestion by Google can be considered as different keyword. You can again repeat the same process to find more related search keywords.

Wait, there is another way to find related search keywords. If you are doing any keyword search in Google, like guitar in above example, look at the bottom of the search result page. Google usually displays related search keywords at the bottom of the page. So, you can use these two method, which is free, to discover related search keywords for your niche website.

Update: If you are using your country specific google search then this tool may not work. If you are not able to see the related search option then move to Google.Com/ncr to open Google.com and then follow the same process. It’s not working for Google.co.in.

If you have bought both, domain name and web hosting, from same provider then they will take care of it. But if you have taken from different providers then you have to attach domain name with web hosting.

Basically you just have to change nameservers settings in your domain name control panel. This nameservers will be provided to you by your web hosting company. Either you can contact to your web host for your nameserver or basically you will receive it in your email once you have registered your web hosting account. Also, you can get the nameserver details by login to your hosting control panel. It will usually look like:

ns1.yourhostname.com
ns2.yourhostname.com

So, once you have receive your nameserver then you have to replace this nameserver in your domain name with their default namerserver. Usually all domain name providers will give their nameserver with domain name. So, you just have to make changes in that place and wait for few hours for this change to take affect.

I have written a post on How to Change Nameservers in Netfirms. This procedure is almost same in all domain providers. If you are not able to change your nameservers, then contact to your domain name provider and they will do it within few minutes of sending your request. Since I have bought my most of the domains from netfirms that’s why I written above tutorial. If you are buying domain name from netfirms then the above tutorial will help you to change nameserver by yourself.

Step 1: Register Your Domain Name

Step 2: Register for your web hosting Account
Once you have registered your domain name then the next step is to register web hosting account where you can store your website data and can create web pages. Read this article to know how to register a web hosting account.

Step 3: Associate Domain Name with web Hosting
Once you have registered both domain name and web hosting then next step is to associate your domain name with web hosting. Read this article to know How to associate domain name with web hosting.

Step 4: Create your webpage
Once you have done the above three steps then you have to decide whether you want to create your own website or you want to start your own blog or forums.

Step 4 a) Either you can start your website by learning HTML and creating your website by using HTML tools. Or
Step 4 b) You can install free software like blog, forum, classifieds etc depending on your need.

Step 1: First of all, visit Yahoo Site Explorer.
Step 2: Copy & Paste the website URL (any) in Explore URL search box.
Step 3: Check out the result page where you will get number of pages indexed in yahoo & number of inlinks (link pointing to that URL).

Step 4: Click on inlinks Button and it will take you to the page where it will show you all incoming links to that URL.

Step 5: Now you will get two dropdown option to sort the backlinks. Use this different option given in the dropdown menu to get the exact backlink idea.

Simply Select “except from this domain” from first list & “only this URL” from second drop down to know the exact backlinks on that particular URL.
